The best news ever!

God is love.

He loves you.

He desires for you to love him.

"God loves the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die."

These are some words from the best-selling book in history - the Bible, the ultimate manual for life. But what does it really mean?

'God loves the people of this world'

God created every part of our amazing universe. He created you and he absolutely loves you.

'So much'

But the problem is we mess up, get things wrong and hurt God. The first two people that God created, Adam and Eve, made some huge mistakes. Ever since then the human race has been making mistakes. The bible calls this sin and it says that everyone is a sinner. The bad news is that there are always consequences when we mess up in life. The punishment for sin is death. We all die at some point, but God has something much much better lined up than just our life here on earth.

'He gave his only Son'

If the ultimate consequence of sin is death, then how can we alter that? Well we can't do anything about it but God has done something incredible already. He sent his only son, Jesus, to come and take the punishment for our sins instead of us. It's probably the most well-known death of all time - the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on a cross over 2000 years ago.

'Everyone who has faith in him'

God says that anyone who has faith that Jesus Christ did this for us...

'Will have eternal life!'

Life that will never end. So once we reach the end of our lives here on earth, immediately our soul leaves our body to go the most amazing place ever - heaven. In this place we will be with God.

At St Thomas' we praise God for this amazing gift to us - the gift of him sending his son to pay the price that we were meant to pay for our sins.
